Long Island Weddings
What 30 club websites actually say

Which Long Island country clubs let non members book a wedding

Ten of the 30 Long Island clubs we read will not confirm that you can book a wedding there. Four state a restriction in writing: three require a member to sponsor the event, and the Village Club of Sands Point keeps Mansion bookings exclusive to members. The other six publish nothing at all about outside events. The remaining 20 do publish a route an outsider can use, 13 as plainly public venues and seven as private clubs that say non members are welcome. Marketplace listings almost never carry that distinction, and that is where couples lose weekends.

Twenty of 30 clubs publish a route an outsider can actually use

We read every club's own site first, and marketplace listings only afterwards. Where a club made a statement about who may host an event, we took the statement. Where it made none, we recorded not published rather than guessing from the tone of the marketing.

That produced five buckets across 30 clubs, and the split is less forbidding than the reputation of Long Island private clubs suggests.

The four clubs that say no put it in writing

North Hills Country Club in Manhasset is the clearest. Its own Events page states the club is available for Member and Member-sponsored events, and directs anyone else to the Membership Director. If you have no sponsor, that page is the end of the road.

Cherry Valley Club in Garden City states outright that a membership affiliation is required to host an event. Manhasset Bay Yacht Club in Port Washington gets there by description rather than by rule. Its facilities page frames the rooms as settings for the occasions of its members, member sponsored friends and business associates. Its weddings page calls them members' personal events.

The Village Club of Sands Point is the one where a date matters. On 9 April 2025 the Village of Sands Point, which owns and governs the club, announced that The Mansion was resuming private events after an extended closure and that Mansion bookings would continue to be exclusive to members. Older wedding blogs and photographer galleries still show the property as a wedding venue, and they predate that announcement.

What each of the 30 clubs publishes about who may book an event, read on 10 September 2026.

The clubs that say yes usually say it in one quotable sentence

Greenview at Lawrence Yacht & Country Club is the most direct club on this list. Its private events page states that members and nonmembers are able to host events at the Club. No sponsorship, no qualification. Greenview is the exclusive in-house caterer, and the club additionally permits four named glatt kosher caterers: Chap A Nosh of Cedarhurst, Michael Schick, Prime Events by MC and Elite Events.

Engineers Country Club answers the same question twice in its own FAQ, once saying the club welcomes both Members and Non-Members to host events, and once saying weddings are open to Members and Non-Members alike. The Seawane Club states that it offers its event spaces and certain club facilities to both members and non members, with no sponsorship condition attached.

Two more are softer. The Mansion at Woodside Club rests on a marketing line, that it caters to members and non members alike, rather than on a policy page. Wind Watch Golf & Country Club in Hauppauge describes itself as semi-private and open to the general public, which is a daily-fee structure rather than a members' club at all.

Six clubs publish nothing, and we could not confirm a single one

These are the entries that matter most, because silence reads as availability to anyone browsing. In each case we read the club's own events or catering pages and found no statement in either direction.

The real problem: listings that price a club you cannot book

Manhasset Bay Yacht Club is the sharpest case in this set. The Knot and WeddingWire both carry an $11,000 starting figure for the club. Neither listing mentions membership, sponsorship or any restriction at all, while the club's own pages describe events for members and member sponsored friends. A couple reading either platform would put it on the tour list.

Montauk Lake Club & Marina is the same shape. WeddingWire lists a $7,500 reception starting price, a $2,500 ceremony starting price and bar service at $40 per person, and The Knot carries a $26,100 figure it labels an estimate. None of those listings mentions that the club describes its own membership as invitation only and says nothing about outside events.

The Pine Hollow Club carries a $290 starting price on both The Knot and WeddingWire, and neither source states whether that figure is per person or a flat rate, let alone whether a non member can use it. Sea Cliff Yacht Club appears on The Knot with a $175 per person average couple spend. Nissequogue Golf Club shows a $1,800 ceremony starting price on WeddingWire and a $28,100 average on both platforms, and every one of those clubs is in the not published column above.

One club manages to contradict itself on its own domain. Bridgehampton Tennis & Surf Club calls itself a private, members-only club on its home page, then runs a public events page soliciting weddings, and carries prices on both marketplaces. We classified it as welcoming non members on the strength of that events route, and we would still make the call first.

How to settle this in one email, before you book a tour

Write to the events address, not the membership address, and ask one question: can a couple with no membership and no member sponsor hold a wedding here. Ask for the answer in writing. Everything else, the minimum, the per person rate and the date, follows from it.

If the club answers yes, ask whether the price on The Knot or WeddingWire is a figure the club supplied. In every member gated case on this list, it was not. Platform starting prices and average spends are generated by the platform, and a club that never sold to the public has no rate card behind them.

If the club will not answer by email, that is information too. Four of the six clubs in our not published column market weddings on public pages while routing every real question through a phone number. A club that cannot say who may book on its own website is a club that will take three weeks to send you a contract.
