This is a one-person site. There is no team, no office, and no sales floor — which is worth saying out loud, because the directories you have been reading are staffed and still get Long Island wrong. What follows is exactly how the numbers on this site are produced, so you can decide how much to trust them.
Where the numbers come from
Every figure on a venue page is read off that venue’s own website wherever one exists — their capacity chart, their FAQ, their PDF brochure. That is the only source I treat as authoritative, and the pages say so.
When a venue publishes nothing, the card says “Not published.” It does not say a number I found on The Knot. Aggregator pricing on Long Island is frequently stale or simply wrong — one directory currently lists a Riverhead venue that stopped taking weddings in 2025, and another prints the same “180 Venues” count for four different towns. Where I do use a third-party figure because it is the only one that exists, the sentence names the third party.
Where two sources conflict, the page shows both. Bedell Cellars’ own FAQ and its own 2026 brochure disagree about beverage pricing and about how long your wedding is. That page says so rather than picking the flattering one.
What “unconfirmed” means on a card
It means I could not verify it and I am telling you. The Milleridge Inn’s website serves nothing a browser can read without scripts, so the capacity on its page carries an unconfirmed flag instead of a confident number. A handful of other cards carry the same flag for the same reason. That label is a feature, not an apology — a directory that never admits a gap is a directory that fills its gaps with guesses.
The fees nobody puts in a listing
The reason this site exists in one sentence: on Long Island the quoted per-head price is not the price. A facility or administrative fee of roughly 20–22% lands on top, and then sales tax lands on top of that. The Fox Hollow publishes its 22% openly, which almost nobody does — most couples meet the number on the final invoice. Suffolk County sales tax has also been 8.75% since 1 March 2025, and a lot of Long Island wedding pages still quote the old 8.625%. What I will not do
No star ratings and no review scores, because there are no reviews here and inventing them is how sites get penalized. No venue photographs used without written permission — the images on this site are licensed stock until a venue sends me their own, because on a wedding photo the copyright usually belongs to the photographer, not the venue. And no price I cannot point at a source for.
Corrections
If something on your venue’s page is wrong, email me and I will fix it the same day. If you run a venue and want off the list entirely, say so and it comes off, no argument and no counter-offer. That policy has been on this page since the first day and it has never been used as a negotiating tactic, because it is not one. Claiming your listing is free and always will be.
