What Long Island photographers actually charge

On The Knot's Long Island page, starting prices run roughly $995 to $4,500, and the site says around 9% of listings advertise under $1,000. WeddingWire's page spans $895 to $6,000. Those are vendor-entered figures for the smallest package, and they change often. First-party sites tell a different story. Heritage House Photo in Merrick publishes collections from $7,200 with two photographers, an engagement session, a custom album and same-night previews. Britt Lee prints a $7,500 collection with up to 10 hours and a second photographer. Michael Cassara starts wedding collections at $8,000 and elopements at $3,000. Kayla Tiffany's collections begin at $9,500.

The lower end also exists in print. JS Visions in Garden City lists its single-photographer 'The Yes' tier at $2,500 for 10 hours, held with a $1,000 retainer. Precious Pics Pro publishes photography from $1,299 for a 4-hour minimum, and Dreamlife starts photography at $1,590. Eyesight Studio in Floral Park gives its own range as $2,500 to $8,000 and beyond. Heritage House frames the whole market in three tiers on its cost page: coverage-focused studios at $2,000 to $4,000, owner-operated mid-market at $4,000 to $7,000, and boutique from $7,000, which is where its own $7,200 collections sit. On The Knot, Park Ave Studio shows $2,395 starting, Duet $4,350, Citrine Visuals $4,000 and Miralli $1,999. For scale, The Knot's national photographer average is $3,000 and its NYC-area average is $4,475. Neither is a Long Island figure, and no Long Island average is published anywhere we could find.

A second shooter and a delivery date in writing separate the good ones

Ask who is holding the camera. Park Ave Studio in Ronkonkoma states a staff of 15 photographers, Lotus in Melville says it photographs 300 or more weddings a year, and Dreamlife runs from Manhattan with a second office in Los Angeles. None of that is bad, but the shooter is assigned. Lisa Nicolosi shoots every wedding herself with no associates, and Kaitlyn Ferris books only the North Fork and Hamptons. Get the name in the contract either way. Then ask to see two or three complete weddings start to finish, at a venue like yours, in the light you will actually have. A highlight reel of 40 couples' best frames tells you very little.

Then check the deliverables against each other. Second photographer: included at Heritage House, Britt Lee, Michael Cassara's full collections and Precious Pics Pro, while Kayla Tiffany's page does not say. Sneak peeks: same night at Heritage House, the day after at Britt Lee, 1 to 2 days at Kaitlyn Ferris, inside 72 hours at Kayla Tiffany, 5 to 7 days at Cassara. Full gallery: about four weeks at Heritage House, 6 to 8 weeks at Kaitlyn Ferris, 10 to 12 weeks at Kayla Tiffany, and 4 to 6 weeks at Precious Pics Pro. That last page also mentions a 14-day edited gallery, so ask which applies. Album: bundled at Heritage House and in JS Visions' two upper tiers, a la carte at Britt Lee and Kaitlyn Ferris. Raw files: no photographer on this page lists them as a deliverable, so ask before you assume.

The contract lines that cost Long Island couples money

Almost every Long Island collection is sold as a 10-hour block. JS Visions, Britt Lee and Kaitlyn Ferris all cap there, and Michael Cassara says 10 or more. Long Island receptions run long, and overtime is rarely on the storefront. Ask for the hourly overtime rate in writing before you sign, and ask what happens if the venue runs over.

Retainers and extras come next. JS Visions takes a $1,000 retainer and wants the balance two weeks before the wedding. Nonrefundable retainers are the norm, so a date change can cost you the deposit. Travel: JS Visions says fees may apply depending on the venue, while Precious Pics Pro states no travel surcharge anywhere on Long Island. Gallery hosting: Britt Lee hosts yours for one year, after which downloading everything is on you. Drone: Kaitlyn Ferris includes drone portraits only when weather and location permit. Finally, ask for a backup-photographer clause and an image delivery deadline in writing. Of the studios on this page, only Kayla Tiffany, Kaitlyn Ferris, Heritage House and Precious Pics Pro publish a full-gallery window at all.

East End photographers book 12 to 18 months out, and the light there is not Nassau light

Kayla Tiffany takes only 2 to 4 weddings a year, and her couples typically book 12 to 18 months out. Heritage House says it limits the number of weddings it accepts each year. Zola's 2026 survey puts the average engagement at 18 months, which is about the whole window for the East End photographers on this page. If you want a specific one for a fall Saturday, the inquiry goes out early.

Geography matters too. Britt Lee, Kaitlyn Ferris and Precious Pics Pro all work the North Fork to Montauk, and Kaitlyn Ferris books nowhere else. JS Visions warns that travel fees depend on the venue. Light is the other variable. A 5:30pm November first look at a Nassau country club looks nothing like a June evening in Montauk, so ask to see a full wedding shot in your month.
