Max Bridal in Syosset shows a $1,600 starting price on WeddingWire. The Knot's 2026 study puts the national dress average at $2,100, and The Wedding Report's 75 guest Long Island estimate puts attire at $3,594 to $4,392.
Menswear is more transparent. Karako Suits in Farmingdale starts at $159 on its WeddingWire storefront and $159.99 on WeddingWire's Long Island menswear page, with rentals at $100 to $299 and purchases from under $200 to $2,000 and up. Esquire Tuxedos in Merrick rents at $100 to $299 and sells at $200 to $999. The Black Tux prices outfits at $275 to $795 on its own site and takes 20% off for groomsmen. The groom's outfit drops by $200 when five or more party members reserve.
A good salon names the price band before it pulls a single gown
The most common bad experience on Long Island is falling for a gown $2,000 over budget because the consultant pulled it anyway. A good salon tells you the band before you book and pulls only inside it. It tells you the designer lead time, four to eight months standard plus two to three months for alterations, and is honest when you are inside a rush window. It quotes alterations as a separate, itemized estimate.
Village Bridal in Babylon, family owned for over 30 years, publishes its full designer list of twelve labels including Enzoani and Paloma Blanca, which is the kind of transparency that lets you research before the appointment. Bridal Suite of Centereach, open since 1973, keeps samples in sizes 2 to 28 with alterations and preservation in house. Sayville Bridal works by appointment only and credits its stylists with 42 years of combined experience. Max Bridal publishes its trunk show calendar, including a Stella York preview on October 30 to November 1, 2026. A bad salon is appointment fee driven and pushes a same day deposit with a trunk show that ends today.
A $1,500 gown routinely needs $500 to $900 in alterations
Alterations are the hidden second cost. Hem, bustle, cups and take in are billed separately from the gown, so ask for the alteration price before you order. Lotus Bridal prices alterations by the piece; Blossom Brides by the piece or a flat fee. The Tailor's Mercantile (formerly Tailorbird Mercantile) in Patchogue is an alterations studio that redesigns heirloom gowns and adds custom sleeves or capes. Lotus Bridal, Blossom Brides, The Wedding Plaza and Esquire Tuxedos all mark sales as final on their storefronts, so read the deposit terms before you sign.
Rush fees apply inside the lead time window, and Saturday appointment fees are sometimes credited toward purchase. Accessories add $400 to $1,000 for a veil, headpiece, belt and undergarments. Francine's Bridal Experience in Sayville, since 1998, sells only the veils, headpieces, jewelry and shoes side of that, by appointment. After the wedding, Islip Cleaners quotes gown cleaning and preservation at about $350 to $600 and up on its Knot storefront, and Sayville Bridal and Bridal Suite of Centereach preserve in house.
Eight groomsmen at $200 each is where made to measure starts to win
With a large wedding party, price made to measure suits from Giorgenti Weddings in Garden City, which is appointment only, against the rental total. The operational pain in menswear is the group order deadline and the out of town attendant. Esquire Tuxedos takes remote measurements for out of town groomsmen, and Foresto Tuxedo in Mineola, over 87 years in business, accommodates out of town parties and does women's as well as men's alterations in house.
