Shelter Island wooden sailing yacht

Selina II

Selina II caps at six guests total under sail, including the couple, and at 12 guests for a dockside ceremony, first party. It is the smallest wedding product in this category and by some distance the most thought through. The package includes a licensed New York officiant, a customized ceremony, engraved champagne flutes and boat decorations. It carries no published price at all.

The only Long Island boat that publishes what happens if it rains

Sail Selina NY documents three ceremony modes and publishes all of them. Under sail, weather permitting. Dockside under a canopy, for no wind or for shade or drizzle. Below deck, for wind and drizzle together. If the weather turns strong, the ceremony is rescheduled. No other Long Island vessel we found publishes a wet weather fallback for the ceremony itself, and only three publish a weather policy of any kind. For a couple who want the water and cannot risk the day, that one paragraph is worth more than a bigger boat.

Six people is the product, so plan around it

The sailing ceremony is a private two hour sail, with an additional one hour celebratory sail available afterwards. Six guests total means the couple plus four, and the dockside variant lifts that to 12. This is an elopement boat. If your guest list is larger, the honest move is a ceremony aboard and a reception ashore, because no amount of negotiation changes a six person cap. The package also includes a licensed New York officiant, which removes the single biggest legal problem in a boat wedding.

No Coast Guard language, and the cap explains why

The wedding page carries no USCG claim of any kind, for the vessel or for the captain. A six guest cap under way is consistent with an uninspected passenger vessel operating under the six passenger rule, in which case no Certificate of Inspection exists to ask for. The 12 guest dockside ceremony sits outside carriage of passengers altogether. That is a cleaner regulatory position than most boats in this category occupy, and it is a direct consequence of keeping the number small.

Every inclusion is published except the price

The page describes the officiant, the customized ceremony, keepsake engraved flutes, ivy and white rose decorations and crew hospitality. Bring your own bottle is welcome, and the crew supplies glassware, ice and water. Two weeks notice is required to cancel. After all that detail, no dollar figure appears anywhere on the page, and no season is published either. Ask for both in your first email.

Ask before you book

  1. What does the nautical wedding package cost, and what does the dockside version cost?
  2. Which months do you sail weddings, and how early do dates go?
  3. Is the officiant included in every package, and do they handle the license paperwork?
  4. Which departure point suits our guests best, and how do they get there?
  5. If you reschedule for weather, how does that work against a 60 day marriage license?
