Captree State Park cruise boat

The Moon Chaser

The Moon Chaser publishes a capacity of 200 people, first party, which is the largest of any vessel docked on Long Island. It is a 65 foot enclosed cruise boat with a fully equipped nautical bar, sailing from Captree State Park at 3500 Ocean Parkway in Babylon. It also publishes no wedding price, no charter rate and no Coast Guard language of any kind.

The biggest boat on Long Island does not advertise weddings

The site names birthdays, corporate outings, family reunions and special celebrations. Weddings are absent from that list, despite a capacity that would hold most Long Island guest lists twice over. There is no wedding page, no ceremony provision and no enquiry path built for a couple. If you want this boat you are asking an operator to sell you something it has not put on the shelf, which is a different conversation from booking a venue.

The only prices on the site are concert tickets

The one set of dollar figures published is $58 to $66 per person for Bay Jam concert cruises, first party. Those are public event tickets. They are not a charter rate and they will not scale into one, so do not carry that number into a conversation about a Saturday in July. No private charter or wedding price is published anywhere on the site, and the phone number is (631) 265-1848.

An eight week season, and you compete with the public calendar

The 2026 calendar is unusually short and unusually specific. Flynn's dinner cruises run Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9 July to 29 August. Narrated sightseeing excursions run Thursdays from 11 July to 29 August and last an hour and a half. The published events calendar extends to 26 September. That is effectively a July and August season with a September tail, and the operator's own dinner cruise schedule already occupies much of it. Flynn's, the Ocean Beach restaurant on Fire Island, is the named catering partner, which makes this one of very few Long Island vessels with a caterer you can look up.

Two hundred passengers and no Coast Guard claim at all

This is the point worth pressing hardest. No USCG language of any kind appears on the site: no inspected vessel claim, no licensed captain claim. A 200 passenger boat is necessarily an inspected passenger vessel and must hold a Certificate of Inspection stating its legal maximum. The largest boat on Long Island therefore carries the least Coast Guard disclosure on Long Island. No certificate is public for this vessel or any other here, so ask for it before anything else.

Ask before you book

  1. Do you take wedding charters at all, and has a ceremony ever been held aboard?
  2. What is the certificated passenger number on the Certificate of Inspection, and may we see it?
  3. What does a private charter cost for a Saturday evening in season, and what is the minimum?
  4. Which dates in July and August are actually open once your dinner cruise calendar is set?
  5. Does Flynn's cater private charters as well as the public dinner cruises?
