Both sides of the evidence, laid out

In favour of the farm operating as a wedding venue, there is an Eventective profile that was live when we fetched it on 10 September 2026. It describes a main venue for up to 250 people, an Event Barn for up to 100, outdoor function areas and a whole event price range. Marketplace profiles do go stale, but they usually go stale quietly rather than being taken down, so a live listing is a weak positive signal rather than proof.

Against it: the farm's own site at the address Eventective gives could not be fetched in our session, so nothing on it could be read or dated. A second listing on a Long Island wedding directory also failed to load. That leaves exactly one reachable source for the entire record, which is not a position we like being in.

We are not saying Benner's Farm is closed. We are saying we could not confirm it is open for weddings, which is a different and more honest claim. The farm may be operating normally with a site that simply refused our fetch. It may also have stopped taking weddings while leaving a profile behind on a listing site nobody at the farm logs into. Both scenarios are common.

Outside catering is the entire reason to look at this place

The Eventective profile states that the facility permits outside catering. On Long Island that is genuinely rare. The dominant model here is a hall with a kitchen, a required in house caterer, a required in house bar, and a per head package that bundles the two together. Most of the venues on this site work that way, and it is why a Suffolk County wedding tends to arrive as one large number rather than a set of line items you can push on individually.

A venue that lets you bring your own caterer breaks that number apart. You negotiate food with a caterer, alcohol separately or through that caterer, and the site itself as a rental. The upside is control: you can spend heavily on food and lightly on flowers, or the reverse, and you are not paying a hall's margin on a bar package you did not choose.

The downside is that everything the hall would have supplied becomes your problem. Tables, chairs, linens, glassware, a kitchen or a cooking tent, power and lighting. Restrooms adequate to the guest count. Rubbish removal. Somebody to run the timeline. None of that is priced in the one listing we could reach, and none of it is free. If the outside catering claim is the reason you are here, confirm it first party before you get attached to it.

250 outdoors against 100 in the barn, and the gap between them

Eventective gives the main venue as up to 250 and the Event Barn as up to 100. It gives no breakdown between seated dinner, cocktail reception and ceremony, which are three quite different numbers for the same footprint. A field that holds 250 standing does not seat 250 at round tables with a dance floor and a band.

The bigger issue is the gap itself. If your headcount is above 100 and your ceremony or reception is outdoors, the barn is not a fallback. It is a smaller room that some of your guests will not fit into. That is the single most important planning fact in this record, and it is derived from two published capacities rather than from any statement by the farm.

No source publishes a rain policy for this venue. So a couple planning 180 guests on the grounds needs to answer the tent question themselves, at their own cost, and needs to know the answer before signing rather than in the week of the wedding.

The $4,000 to $11,000 range is one listing's number

Eventective publishes $4,000 to $11,000 per event for 50 to 250 guests. That is the only pricing found for Benner's Farm anywhere, and it is a marketplace range rather than a quote from the farm. It is also a whole event figure, not a per head rate, so it cannot be compared directly against the per person numbers used by catering halls.

Read carefully, that range probably does not include food, because the same profile says outside catering is permitted. A site rental of that shape plus a caterer is a completely different cost structure from a hall package, and the two are not comparable without doing the arithmetic on your own guest count and your own caterer's quote.

What the range does tell you is scale. It sits well below what Long Island catering halls charge for a 200 guest Saturday, and that is the honest reason a couple would drive to Gnarled Hollow Road in the first place. Just do not treat it as a price you have been offered.

What no source publishes at all

There is no per person figure. No separate site or ceremony fee broken out of the event range. No food and beverage minimum, which may not apply in the usual sense at a bring your own caterer venue. No service charge, no gratuity, no administrative fee. No end time or noise curfew, which matters on a residential road in East Setauket. No statement about whether the farm runs one event at a time.
