The membership affiliation line is on the club's own events page

This is not an inference from a tone of voice or from the absence of an enquiry form. The club describes itself as a private membership club and says directly that a membership affiliation is needed to host an event there. It is the first substantive thing on the private events page.

What that means in practice depends on what the club counts as an affiliation, and the site does not define it. A parent who is a member, a fiance whose firm holds a corporate membership and a cousin who plays there occasionally are three different situations. Only the club can tell you which of them opens the door.

If nobody in your two families is a member, this venue is not available to you, and no amount of budget changes that. We would rather say so on the first screen than let you spend a Saturday driving to Garden City for a tour that cannot end in a contract.

1916, Devereux Emmet, and the 1927 U.S. Women's Amateur

The club dates itself to 1916. Emmet laid out the links style course, and the clubhouse is attributed to Ballard on the club's own golf page. The 1927 U.S. Women's Amateur was played here, which is a documented championship rather than a marketing line.

Emmet's name recurs across this batch of Nassau clubs, and the courses that carry it tend to share the same open, low profile character. At Cherry Valley that character survives inside Garden City, on a property surrounded by village streets rather than by farmland.

The club's own pages give two different acreages

The golf page says 145 acres. The private events page says 130 acres. Both are first party, both are current, and the club has not reconciled them.

It is a small discrepancy and it changes nothing about your wedding. We are printing it because it is a useful reminder about first party numbers: the fact that a figure comes from the venue's own site does not make it the only figure on that site. When two of a club's own pages disagree, ask which one the events office uses.

Named rooms with no numbers attached to them

The club lists a Main Dining Room for larger events with course views, a Midland Room, a Grill Room, a Club Dining Room, and a porch and patio. No per room capacity is published for any of them.

The club publishes no overall guest number either. The Knot lists a 251 to 300 band for the venue, which is a marketplace figure and the only capacity indication that exists in public. It has not been confirmed by the club.

There is a second sourcing problem worth knowing. The WeddingWire result for Cherry Valley redirects to a general Long Island country club roundup and carries no listing for this club, so a couple searching the usual marketplaces will find less here than they expect.

In house catering under Kevin Chun, with the club coordinating the rest

Catering is in house, under Executive Chef Kevin Chun. The club also says it coordinates florals, linens, layout, entertainment and audio visual, which describes a full service club operation rather than a room rental.

No outside caterer policy is published, and no approved vendor list appears anywhere. For a private club with its own kitchen, the safe assumption is that the kitchen is not optional, but the club has not written that down either.

No pricing of any kind exists on the site. No per person rate, no site fee, no food and beverage minimum, no service charge, no gratuity policy, no end time, no rain plan. Members generally get rates through the club rather than through a public page, which is consistent with everything else here.

If you do have a member in the family, this is the walkable Garden City option

For couples with an affiliation, the location does real work. Cherry Valley sits inside Garden City, walkable to village hotels and to the Long Island Rail Road, which solves the transport problem that costs a Nassau wedding thousands in shuttles and car services.

The questions to put to the club are specific. Does the member need to attend, or only to sponsor? Does the member sign the contract and carry the liability? Do member rates apply to your event, or a different schedule? What happens if that member resigns before your date?

Get those four answers in writing before anything else. A wedding that depends on a relationship rather than a booking needs the relationship documented, and that is not a hostile request. Any club that hosts sponsored events has answered it before.
