Valet or a shuttle is mandatory, and the club never mentions it

Start with the two constraints nobody puts in a brochure. Wedding Spot states that valet parking or shuttle service is required, and that wheelchair access at the venue is limited.

The first is a cost line most couples do not budget for. The second is the kind of thing you need to know before inviting a grandparent who uses a walker. Neither appears on oldfieldclub.com, on The Knot or on WeddingWire, and Wedding Spot is the only source saying either out loud.

Wedding Spot also lists house rules that come with the property. The venue must approve all decorations, and rice, birdseed and confetti are prohibited. If the exit shot matters to you, plan it around that.

A club founded in 1929 whose own website tells you nothing

Carats and Cake and Eventective both date the club to 1929 and both credit the Melville family with founding it. They agree with each other, which is worth something. The club's own about page carries no founding year, no architect and no building history at all.

That is the pattern here. oldfieldclub.com publishes no prices, no capacities, no room list and no policies. It runs a tour booking form on the Clubspot platform and stops there. Note that the path is /wedding, singular, if you are hunting for the page.

This is a private member club. Membership and public tennis run alongside the wedding business, which is normal for a Long Island country club and does affect what a Saturday feels like on the grounds.

The rooms, as described by third parties: a ballroom that Carats and Cake calls a ballroom barn, with lofty ceilings, full length French windows, chandeliers and polished wood floors. A Lagoon Room used for cocktail hour. An outdoor pavilion on the water for ceremonies, plus an open lawn and preparation suites. No capacity is attached to any of them by anybody.

$165 peak and $105 off peak, with the bar charged separately

WeddingWire publishes a starting rate of $165 per person in peak season and $105 off peak. It defines peak as May, June, September and October, and off peak as everything else, July and August included. That is an unusual definition and it works in your favour if you want a midsummer date.

The number to watch is the bar. WeddingWire lists bar service separately at $25 per person, which means the $165 and the $105 are food figures with drinks still to be added. Presenting $105 as an all in price would be wrong, and we have seen it done.

The same listing says couples typically spend $205 per person in peak season and $150 off peak. Those are platform estimates of real spend rather than quoted rates. The gap between a starting rate and a typical spend is the honest measure of how far a package moves once you start choosing things.

Nothing is first party. oldfieldclub.com publishes no price of any kind, and no service charge percentage, administrative fee, maitre d' fee or bridal attendant fee is published by anyone.

Two sources flatly disagree about whether outside catering is allowed

Wedding Spot states that all food and beverage is handled by the venue and that on site catering is required. Outside catering, on that account, is not permitted. Eventective ticks a box saying outside catering is allowed.

The weight of evidence sits with Wedding Spot. WeddingWire and Carats and Cake both describe in house chefs and venue run catering, and Eventective's answer is an amenity checkbox rather than a written policy. We record both because we cannot resolve it from outside, and because anyone who needs an outside caterer cannot afford to guess.

No approved or preferred vendor list is published by anyone, and no outside vendor fee is published either.

A 120 guest floor on Saturdays in season, and three different ceilings

Eventective states a minimum of 120 guests for Saturday weddings during wedding season. Wedding Spot confirms that a food and beverage minimum applies on peak days without publishing the dollar figure. Neither appears on the club's own site.

A 120 guest floor is a real filter. If your list is 90 people and you want a Saturday in June, this venue may not be for you, and that is better to learn before the tour than after it.

The maximum is unresolved. The Knot says 151 to 200 guests. WeddingWire says up to 200. Wedding Spot says up to 250 across indoor and outdoor space. The 250 figure probably counts the lawn and the pavilion alongside the ballroom, and no source actually says so.

Site fees are unresolved in the same way. The Knot and WeddingWire both list a $2,500 reception site fee and a $1,000 ceremony site fee. Wedding Spot says there is no venue rental fee for receptions at all, and charges an $8 per person ceremony setup fee instead. Those are two structures rather than two numbers.

Music stops at midnight, and the overtime is priced per head

Wedding Spot is the only source publishing an end time. Music must end by midnight, within a five hour standard event, and additional hours are charged at $15 per person per hour.

That per person overtime structure is unusual and worth modelling before you sign. An hourly rate scaling with guest count behaves very differently from a flat overtime fee, and at 200 people it is a serious line. Nothing on the club's own site, on The Knot or on WeddingWire corroborates the midnight figure, so confirm it directly.

WeddingWire lists a one wedding per day policy. Read the wording exactly. One wedding per day is a statement about weddings, not about a member club that also runs tennis courts and a dining room. Ask what club activity continues around your event.

The rain plan is unpublished, and it matters here more than at most venues, because the ceremony space is an open pavilion on the water. The Knot lists covered outdoor space among the amenities and a ballroom exists indoors, so a fallback is physically available. Nobody publishes who makes the call or by when.
