Lessing's Hospitality Group has run the food, beverage and catering here since 29 March 2025, under a partnership with the Incorporated Village of Port Jefferson, which owns the club. That matters twice over. The club's own wedding FAQ states that no membership is required to host an event or to dine, so a couple with no connection to the place can book it. And any package, menu or price you find filed under the old Waterview name predates the current operator by more than a year.
The only first party number on this venue is a capacity, 400 in the ballroom. Every dollar figure comes from a marketplace listing written under the club's previous catering brand, which is why we date them. Treat the $2,000 ceremony fee as a starting point to test rather than a rate, and get a current Lessing's menu with the service charge shown as its own line.

Marketplace listings still run under the old Waterview name and predate Lessing's taking over on 29 March 2025, so their packages and prices should be treated as out of date.
This is a municipal asset. The Village of Port Jefferson owns the club, and the wedding FAQ on the catering site answers the membership question directly: no membership is required to host an event or to eat there. That is a first party statement, on the club's own domain, and it is the reason this venue is on the site at all.
There are two live domains for one club, which trips people up. Golf and membership live at portjeffcc.com. Catering and weddings live at portjeffersoncountryclub.com. Both loaded on 10 September 2026. If you land on the golf side and see membership language, you are on the wrong page for a wedding.
TBR News Media reported on 26 March 2025 that Lessing's Hospitality Group was becoming the Village's food and beverage partner at the club, effective 29 March 2025. Lessing's now lists the club among its wedding venues.
Everything published before that date describes a different catering operation. The old brand was The Waterview at the Port Jefferson Country Club, and marketplace listings still carry that name. One WeddingWire note even ties the venue to the Danford's brand. Packages, menus and prices under any of those headings are stale by definition.
So when a listing hands you a number, check when it was written. If the source predates spring 2025, the person who would honour it no longer runs the kitchen.
The club's own FAQ says the grand ballroom holds up to 400 guests, and mentions smaller private dining rooms without naming or sizing any of them. That is the entire first party capacity record.
The Knot fills in the rest, as a marketplace source: Grand Ballroom at 250 seated or 400 for a reception, Harborview Room up to 150, Soundview Room up to 150. It also describes outdoor terraces and a garden ceremony area over the Sound.
Because there are several rooms, exclusivity is a live question. Nothing on the FAQ says one wedding at a time. Ask if Harborview and Soundview stay closed while your reception is running, and get the answer written into the contract.
WeddingWire lists a starting ceremony fee of $2,000 in peak season, which it defines as May to October, and lists no separate reception site fee. That listing says the ceremony fee covers the bridal suite, chairs, china, setup, cleanup, event planning, flatware, glassware, linens, parking and tables.
The Knot carries a $30 per person figure for bar service only. That is a line item, not a reception rate, and it should never be read as the cost of a wedding here. The Knot also shows an average estimated total of $26,493, which is that site's own estimate rather than a published venue price.
The club publishes no per person rate, no food and beverage minimum and no service charge, and no maitre d' fee appears anywhere on the site. The Knot notes only that starting prices exclude service fees, taxes, gratuity and rentals, without giving a percentage. Menus come by phone, at 631-473-1440.
The club's golf side records the property as established in 1908 as the Belle Terre Club, with nine holes, expanded to eighteen in 1924. That history sits on the club's own site.
The setting is the selling point. There is a bluff over Long Island Sound, with terraces outside the ballroom and a garden ceremony area facing the water. The ballroom has been renovated recently, per the club's own copy.
What is missing is the weather answer. No rain policy is published, no end time or curfew is published, and the outdoor ceremony area has no stated indoor equivalent beyond the obvious move into the ballroom. For an outdoor ceremony on a bluff in shoulder season, that is the first thing to pin down.
The Incorporated Village of Port Jefferson owns this club, and that ownership is worth understanding before you sign anything. Municipal venues run on contracts that get renewed, renegotiated and occasionally handed to somebody else by a board that answers to residents.
Which is exactly what happened in March 2025. One operator left, Lessing's arrived, and everything the previous operator had published became history. It could happen again inside the life of a long engagement.
The protection is simple enough to ask for. Find out what happens to your contract, your deposit and your quoted menu if the Village changes its food and beverage partner again before your date. A good catering director will have an answer ready. Get it in writing anyway.
None of this makes the club a bad booking. Municipal ownership is also the reason a bluff over the Sound is reachable at this price level at all, and the reason the FAQ says out loud that you do not need to be a member.
