Smithtown owns this golf course, so there is no membership question to resolve. The Town's own page says the facility is town operated and open to the public, and names Smithtown Landing Caterers as the catering vendor selected effective 1 January 2023. That contract is the thing to understand here. The Town owns the ground and a private caterer sells you the wedding. The caterer's own weddings page currently reads that more information is coming soon, which is why nearly every wedding figure below arrived from a listing rather than from the venue.
The one figure a couple can act on is first party and small: 150 guests in the Riverview Pavilion. Everything with a dollar sign came from Eventective, including the $125 to $165 per person range, and the caterer has published nothing to confirm or contradict it. Because the wedding page is unfinished, ask for the package sheet by email and treat the listing as a starting point for that conversation.

Two first party sources describe the same property differently. The Town of Smithtown's page for the club describes a town operated facility open to the public. The caterer's own About page calls the site a private country club.
We treat the Town page as authoritative, because the Town owns the property and awarded the catering contract. No membership requirement for events appears anywhere on either site, and no sponsorship language appears at all.
The practical answer is that a couple with no connection to Smithtown can book here. If a salesperson uses the word private on your tour, ask what it refers to. It is likely a description of the setting rather than a condition on booking.
The caterer's weddings page carried no pricing when we read it on 10 September 2026. It said more information is coming soon. For a venue whose entire wedding business runs through one contracted caterer, that is a substantial gap.
Eventective lists $125 to $165 per person for wedding receptions at this address. The same listing carries $75 per person for a Sweet 16, $55 to $62 per person for showers, $19 to $68 per person for golf outings, and an overall range of $950 to $8,250 for 50 guests.
None of that is confirmed by the caterer, and the listing states no inclusions. Whether the $125 covers a cocktail hour, an open bar or a cake is not addressed. Ask for the current wedding package sheet by email, at sales@smithtownlandingcaterers.com, before you attach any meaning to that range.
The property carries the Riverview Room and Riverview Pavilion, the Riverview Tavern, the Nissequogue House and Merrywood Cottage. The Nissequogue House is described with fireplaces and a terrace under a retractable roof. Merrywood Cottage is described with chandeliers and hardwood floors.
Only the pavilion carries a number. The caterer's own Riverview Room page gives up to 150 guests in the Riverview Pavilion. Nothing is published for the Nissequogue House or for Merrywood Cottage, which are the two rooms most couples will want sized.
The listings do not agree with the caterer or with each other. PartySlate gives 200 maximum seated and 200 standing. Eventective gives 200 maximum and 150 for wedding receptions. Take the first party 150 as the planning figure and ask which building the larger numbers refer to.
Nothing is published about whether the club runs one wedding at a time. With three separate event buildings on a single golf property, simultaneous events look possible, and the caterer does not address the point either way.
That is worth a direct question. Ask whether another party can be booked in the Nissequogue House while your reception runs in the pavilion, and ask how parking and the entrance are shared if it is.
The golf course is municipal and stays open to the public. A wedding at a town course does not close the course, so ask where photographs are allowed and at what time on a Saturday in June.
There is no site or rental fee on the caterer's site, on PartySlate or on Eventective. There is no food and beverage minimum and no guest minimum. There is no service charge, maitre d' fee, bridal attendant fee or administrative fee on any page we could read.
There is no end time and no curfew, which at a town owned facility is usually set by a contract term rather than a village ordinance. There is no rain policy, despite an indoor pavilion and a terrace with a retractable roof being the obvious answers to weather.
That is a lot of blank space for a venue that has run a Town catering contract since 2023. All of it is answerable on one phone call, and none of it should wait until you are choosing linens.
Smithtown Landing Caterers is a separate business operating inside a Town facility. Your contract is with the caterer, and the Town is the landlord. That structure is common on Long Island and it changes who answers which question.
Rates, menus, minimums and staffing are the caterer's. Course access, parking, the building itself and the terms of the concession are the Town's. When an answer sounds like a policy nobody can change, ask which of the two set it.
