Jedediah Hawkins Inn

Jamesport inn with rooms upstairs, built for the small wedding weekend.

InnRestaurant

Six rooms, 22 acres, and a house with a tower on it. The Jedediah Hawkins Inn sits on South Jamesport Avenue, not on Main Road where most of the North Fork wedding trade lives, and it is built for the wedding where the whole party sleeps over. We have it filed as a vineyard. It is not one. It is an inn with a serious restaurant, a barn, and a speakeasy.

What they publish, which is not much

The inn’s own site describes one suite and five guest rooms (Cider, Cocoa, Indigo, Rose, Sage and the Belvedere Suite) on 22 acres of gardens and farmland, with a rustic barn, a solarium, a patio, a gazebo, a casual speakeasy and the restaurant. What it does not publish anywhere we could read is a guest capacity, a minimum or a price. Our fact table carries “about 125” and we cannot source that figure to the inn, so treat it as unconfirmed.

Their wedding and events pages returned no readable text to us at all. Call 631-722-2900 and ask three things: the barn’s seated number, the tented number on the lawn, and whether a Saturday requires taking all six rooms. Also note the fact table says “6-room inn + suite,” which reads as seven. Their accommodations page says six total, suite included.

The 1863 problem

The inn says Captain Jedediah Hawkins built the house in 1863 in the Italianate style, belvedere and all. The National Register of Historic Places, which listed the Jedediah Hawkins House on 13 June 2008, says 1864. One year, and neither party is going to settle it, but you want to know the discrepancy exists before it gets printed on a ceremony program. The register also notes the original 19th-century outhouse, milkhouse and washhouse still standing on the property, which is a good reason to walk the grounds on foot rather than from the driveway.

This is an unclaimed listing. If you run Jedediah Hawkins Inn, claim it free to add your photos, capacity, packages, and pricing, and sit at the top of North Fork.
