Salt Air Farm

First, a correction we owe you. Salt Air Farm is not a vineyard and never has been. It is 1535 New Suffolk Road in Cutchogue, a working fruit and flower farm run by the Heston family, and what stands behind your ceremony is hydrangea and fruit trees, not rows of vines. Our own category label on this site says vineyard. That is our mistake, not theirs.

What the farm actually is

Their own site puts it plainly: fruit, flowers, and garden parties. Northforker visited in June 2016 and reported 125 acres near Peconic Bay, run by Prudence Heston with her husband Dan. It described the farm growing hydrangeas, roses and peonies alongside apples, nectarines, peaches, blackberries and kiwis, with an eighteenth-century Tuthill homestead still standing on the property. Heston told them plainly there is no farm stand: “We’re really a private business over here.” That acreage figure is ten years old and from a local outlet rather than the farm, so treat it as a shape.

Viewings are by appointment only, Monday through Saturday. Sunday is closed for family time, which they say outright rather than burying. And the white doves you see in the packages are the farm’s own birds, kept and trained on site, the Suffolk Times ran a piece on the flock in August 2025. A release is bundled into every tier, elopement through 300 guests.

The tent is the venue, and they give you its dimensions

This is the unusual bit. Almost nobody publishes tent sizes, and Salt Air prints them per tier. Up to 50 guests gets a 45′×64′ tent. The 51 to 100 tier adds a second 45′×44′ ceremony tent and a 16′×20′ dance floor. At 101 to 200 the reception tent goes to 45′×104′ with a 20′×28′ floor. The top tier is a 66′×133′ reception tent, a 45′×104′ ceremony tent and a 28′×28′ floor.

Take those to a rental company and you can price the alternative yourself, which is exactly the sort of comparison this site exists to make possible. It also explains the structure of their fee: you are not renting a field, you are buying a temporary building and everything that has to be trucked in around it.

The step from $3,000 to $25,000 is the whole decision

The two elopement tiers are small and cheap: $1,500 for up to 12 guests over two hours, with a seasonal bouquet, a boutonniere and a dove release; $3,000 for up to 25, same two hours, adding a floral arch. Rain is handled by deposit, $500 covers the florals on the smallest tier, $2,000 on the 25-guest one, with rescheduling available.

Then the next rung is $25,000. Doubling your list from 25 to 50 multiplies the fee by more than eight. That is the point where the tent, the dance floor, the bathroom trailer, the parking attendants and five hours instead of two all arrive at once. There is nothing in between. If your headcount is 32, you are either buying the $25,000 tier or you are having an elopement with a strict door policy. Decide which before you fall for the place.

And note what is missing from every tier: nothing on that list is edible. Food, drink and who is allowed to supply either are simply absent from the published material. Ask on the first call, and see what the rest of the North Fork does for comparison.
