Wölffer Estate Vineyard

Short answer: yes, Wölffer still does weddings, and when they do, the whole place is yours. That is worth stating up front because several Hamptons wineries have quietly narrowed or dropped their event business, and the Sagaponack estate at 139 Sagg Road has not. What they will not do is publish a single number about it.

The exact language on their events page

From Wölffer’s private events page: “On your wedding day, Wölffer is yours to enjoy in its entirety. You and your guests will have exclusive access to the gazebo for your ceremony, our lawn for the cocktail hour, Terrace and Tasting Room for dinner and dancing, the vineyard and Cellar” for photographs. They also describe themselves as “not just your venue … we are your catering coordinator and main venue contact.”

So there is a catering partner and Wölffer books through them. The partner is not named anywhere on the site. Inquiries go to their events director, Mary Massey, at mmassey@wolffer.com, per their information page. Ask who the caterer is on the first call, because that firm’s pricing, not Wölffer’s, will be most of your budget.

Everything they don’t publish

No wedding capacity. No site fee. No food-and-beverage minimum. No season, no day-of-week rule, no hours. I read the private events page, the information page and the about page and there is not a dollar figure or a guest count attached to weddings on any of them. If you see a Wölffer wedding price quoted on an aggregator, someone typed it in, and it did not come from the winery.

The 30 seated / 50 cocktail figure that circulates is real but it is a different product. Their own wording ties it to “our private pergola, set among the vines,” which is their intimate-experience offering, not the buyout. Do not price a 150-person wedding off it. A Long Island caterer that works the property lists the hilltop tasting room at up to 150 guests. But that is a vendor’s page rather than the venue’s, so treat it as a starting point for the conversation and nothing firmer.

The transport rule that will reshape your day

Buried in their information page, and the single most useful sentence on the site: the vineyard cannot accommodate buses and limousines for parking. Guests are directed to arrange drop-off and later pickup instead. In August, on Sagg Road, with a coach that has nowhere to idle, that is a logistics problem you want to solve in month one and not month nine.

One more: animals are not permitted beyond ADA service animals. If the dog was going to walk the rings down the aisle, it is not.

Why the estate reads the way it does

Wölffer’s own history puts the beginning in 1978, when Christian Wölffer bought a 14-acre parcel with a farmhouse surrounded by potato fields. The vineyard was founded in 1988 with 15 acres of Chardonnay; Roman Roth became the first winemaker in 1992. Since 2013 it has been run by Marc and Joey Wölffer with Roth as partner. Today the site describes a 175-acre Hamptons estate around a 55-acre sustainably farmed vineyard.
