Two winter package PDFs that cannot be read

The promotions page is actively selling winter weddings for 2027 and 2028, and it links two package documents uploaded in August 2026. One bundles four hours of a DJ and MC. The other bundles four hours of a five piece live band. Both include a premium open bar and cocktail hour, according to the page text.

The PDFs themselves are scanned images. There is no machine readable text inside either file, which means the package prices they almost certainly contain could not be extracted. We will not print a figure we could not read, and we will not infer one from a filename. The numbers embedded in those filenames are file naming, not pricing, and anyone treating them as per person rates is guessing.

If you are shortlisting this venue, open both PDFs in a browser yourself. They are the only first party pricing documents any venue in this group publishes, and they sit two clicks from the homepage.

One wedding at a time, and they say it twice

Water's Edge states on its own About page, and repeats on its wedding page, that it caters to one wedding at a time so the couple and their guests are the sole focus. That is a first party exclusivity claim, and most Long Island halls of this size do not make one.

The Knot echoes it as one wedding per date and LIWeddings repeats it. It is one of the few facts about this venue published by the business and corroborated elsewhere.

The venue also publishes a dedicated kosher weddings page alongside its standard wedding pages, which is a real signal about kitchen capability rather than a line of marketing.

The Summerwind's windows were built along the north wall for the pond

The Summerwind Ballroom is the largest space, published for up to 300 guests. Its windows were custom built along the north side specifically to keep Mill Pond in view from inside the room. It has globe chandeliers, an inlay dance floor and two custom bars.

The Pondview Room takes up to 150 and has a built in bar and an attached balcony patio over Mill Neck Pond. The Willow Room sits at ground level with direct outdoor access, built in stations, portable bars and patio access, positioned for cocktail parties. Its capacity is not published.

Outside there is a furnished stone patio and a garden with a gazebo. The lobby is fronted with floor to ceiling glass. Indoor and outdoor ceremony options are both offered.

Capacity is the cleanest number in this whole group. The venue says 300, The Knot says 251 to 300, WeddingWire says up to 300, and Brides of Long Island says 300. Four sources, one ceiling, no argument.

LIWeddings says this was the Thatched Cottage site, and the venue does not

The venue describes itself as a completely new Gold Coast property in Centerport on the North Shore, roughly 50 minutes from New York City. Its footer reads Powered by Crest Group. No founding year appears anywhere on the site.

LIWeddings tells a fuller story. It says the property is the newest addition to the Danfords Collection with over 20 years of waterfront hospitality behind it, and that it was formerly known as Thatched Cottage Caterers. Neither the Danfords connection nor the Thatched Cottage predecessor is stated on the venue's own site.

We print both because they are the only two accounts available and they do not match. If the LIWeddings version is right, this is a rebuilt property under a new name rather than a long running business, and older material about the previous operation should not be attributed to it. Put the ownership question directly to them on the tour.

The only published fee is $2,000 for the ceremony

The Knot and WeddingWire agree on a $2,000 ceremony site fee in peak season, with the reception fee marked contact for price. WeddingWire calls May through October peak and November through April off peak, and describes the ceremony fee as covering the bridal suite, chairs, cleanup, linens, parking, setup and tables.

There is no published per person catering rate. Bar service starting at $25 per person appears on both The Knot and WeddingWire, and that is the only per head figure available anywhere. The Knot estimates an average cost of $31,800, which is The Knot's model and not a venue quote.

No food and beverage minimum, no guest minimum, no service charge percentage, no administrative fee and no maitre d' or bridal attendant fee is published anywhere. If any of those exist in writing, they are inside the two package PDFs, which is another reason to open them.

Catering is in house, described as prepared on site. The venue publishes a 2026 preferred vendor list as a PDF, which we could not retrieve, so whether that list is mandatory or advisory is unknown. No outside caterer policy and no outside vendor fee is published.

They are booking 2027 and 2028, which tells you something

A venue marketing winter 2027 and 2028 packages in the autumn of 2026 is a venue with a filled calendar and a sales operation that plans ahead. If you want a peak Saturday, the practical consequence is that you are shopping earlier than you think.

No end time or curfew is published. WeddingWire describes a five hour open bar standard package, which describes an event shape rather than a cut off, and no overtime rate appears anywhere.

There is no written rain plan either. The About page lists indoor and outdoor ceremony options and indoor and outdoor cocktail spaces, so the fallback exists in fact. The decision rule does not exist in public.

One housekeeping note. There is no Zola listing for this Water's Edge. The Zola results under similar names are Waters Edge Event Center and Water's Edge Resort and Spa, which are different businesses in different places. Do not read their reviews or their prices as this venue's.
