Hamlet Golf & Country Club

The Hamlet is a private club for golf and an openly public one for parties, and it says so on its own page: no membership required, non-members welcome to host. That gap is the entire reason a Commack country club shows up on a directory anybody can read. What the club will not tell you online is what a wedding there seats, or costs.

Thirty to three hundred, and what the club will commit to

Invited’s event page for the club gives one usable range and gives it exactly: “flexible event spaces ranging from our Courtside Room of 30 guests to our Terrace on the Green for 300 guests.” A day-of coordinator comes with every event, rehearsals are included with the packages, and outside florists, photographers and bands are permitted. Minimums vary by space, date and time, and no dollar figure appears anywhere.

They ask for six to twelve months’ notice on a wedding and will hold a date informally before contracts are signed. The club sits at 1 Clubhouse Drive in Commack, on a Stephen Kay course that plays 7,023 yards to a par of 72.

The room has two names, depending which page you land on

The weddings page calls the big room the Terrace Ballroom. The event-rooms page calls it Terrace on the Green. They are almost certainly the same space, but nobody has reconciled the two pages, and neither one publishes a seated capacity for a wedding. Three hundred is a room maximum, not a promise of three hundred people at round tables with a dance floor and a band in the corner.

So ask for that specific number, seated, with the dance floor in. Ask it before you ask anything else, because at a Long Island country club it is usually the answer that ends the conversation or starts it.
