The Inn at New Hyde Park

The Inn at New Hyde Park is one of the very few Long Island catering halls that puts real dollar figures on its own website. Not a per-head, but the fees around it: overtime, ceremony, security deposit. That makes it worth reading before you tour anywhere else on this stretch of road, because for once you walk in with something to compare against.

The numbers on their own site, quoted

Every figure here comes from the Inn’s own services page, not an aggregator. Events include “5 hours of time excluding setup/cleanup.” Additional hours “cost $1,000 per hour based on 100 guests.” There is a “$5,000 refundable security deposit.” Indoor ceremony space “ranges from $800-$1,000 with reception.” And they will “accommodate events from as few as 10-25 guests up to 500 or more.”

Read the overtime line carefully, because it is doing something most halls hide. A thousand dollars an hour is quoted against a hundred guests, which means it scales, and a 220-person wedding running an extra hour is not paying a thousand dollars. Ask what the per-hour figure is at your actual headcount, and get it written into the contract before the band’s agent starts negotiating a sixth hour at eleven at night.

On the wedding side the Inn states a minimum of around 90 to 100 guests for a Saturday night, a five-hour reception and premium open bar in the package. It also states a non-refundable initial deposit, and a final balance due roughly 10 to 14 days out. New York sales tax and a service charge sit on top of the quoted per-head. Seven rooms, and the Georgian is the one everybody means

Their services page lists the “Georgian Ballroom for up to 500-600 guests, Tuscany for 250, Conservatory for 200, and Gable Ballroom for 180.” The rooms index adds a Savannah Room, an Anthonian Rose Room, two bridal suites and a small private dining space called Table 7 at the Inn. Seven event rooms is the number they use.

Our fact table says 500 across seven rooms. Their copy says 500 to 600 for the Georgian. We are staying at 500, because the upper end of that range is almost certainly a standing figure rather than a seated one, and 500 seated is the honest version. If you are genuinely at 540 people, do not accept the range. Make them draw round tables and a dance floor on a scaled plan in front of you.

The address is the whole argument

214 Jericho Turnpike, New Hyde Park. Western Nassau, minutes from the Queens line, and that geography is the entire reason this room books the way it does. Half your list is coming from the city and none of them need a hotel room, which quietly removes the single largest hidden cost of an East End wedding.

It also puts the Inn on the most competitive catering-hall corridor on Long Island. What is included, and where the line sits

The published inclusion list is long: setup and cleanup, event rentals, lighting and sound, get-ready rooms, tables, chairs and linens, AV, a dance floor, valet parking, in-house catering, bar service, coat check and a bridal suite. Complimentary event planners are part of the offer. They also list kosher kitchen capability, which narrows a shortlist very fast if you need it. Calling itself a Long Island landmark established in 1938, the Inn has an indoor chapel and garden courtyards under tree canopies for an outdoor ceremony.

What is not on the list is a per-person price. There is a pricing guide behind a request form instead. Nothing wrong with that; it is how the whole industry works. But it does mean the four figures above are the only hard numbers you carry into the room, so use them as leverage. In our experience a venue willing to publish $1,000 an hour and a $5,000 deposit on a public page is a venue that answers the next question straight.

One caution before the deposit

Seven rooms means the building can run more than one event at once. That is not a criticism; it is how a hall this size stays solvent, and the Inn has clearly built the floor plan for it. But it is a question to ask directly rather than assume: what else is booked in the house on your date, which entrance does that party use, and where is their cocktail hour relative to your garden ceremony.

The answer is usually fine. You want it in front of you before the deposit clears, not after.
